Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (MUFG) is collaborating with OpenAI to introduce an AI-driven digital bank in Japan by 2026. The initiative aims to automate account openings, customer service, and financial management using ChatGPT technology, marking a significant shift from Japan's paper-based banking traditions.

The integration of AI will enable mobile apps to offer personalized advice on savings, asset allocation, and household budgeting. MUFG plans to expand its AI team to over 350 specialists by 2027, signaling a long-term commitment to digital transformation in the banking sector.
